We Recognize:

             Robert Webster, WR8RW   &   Tom Smith, KK4NTI

The SC Section issued two Certificates of Merit in the last month.
The First was issued to Robert Webster WR8RW, who is the EC for
Greenville County ARES and Skywarn NCO has demonstrated an unwavering
commitment to public safety and effective disaster response. Robert has
been proactive and consistent in his education in meteorology, weather
patterns and emergency response protocols to better serve his community.
Section Emergency Coordinator Daniel Boyer, WD2DW said of Robert, “It
is my firm belief that Robert’s actions during this year’s severe
weather events exemplify the highest standards of dedication,
professionalism, and civic responsibility. His contributions have
undoubtedly helped to save lives, protect property, and improve disaster
response efforts in our region.”  Bobert, WR8RW’s service is
invaluable to the citizens of South Carolina and brings great honor to
the Amateur Radio Community as a whole. Robert, thank you for your
continued and meritorious public service to the state of South
Carolina.

The Second Certificate of Merit was awarded to Tom Smith, KK4NTI, who is
a net control station for Greenville – Spartanburg Regional Skywarn.
Tommy’s dedication to meteorological vigilance and his role as a net
control station have consistently demonstrated his commitment to the
safety and well-being of our community. His ability to effectively
manage and lead communication efforts during severe weather events has
been truly commendable. During a weather event on August 3rd, 2023 Tommy
played a pivotal role in alerting the local community to a potentially
tornadic event.  The National Weather Service in Greenville had not yet
issued a warning on the storm.  Tommy recognizing the tornadic hallmarks
of the storm advised those in its path to seek shelter.  That particular
cell was later found to have produced an EF0 tornado.  Section EC Daniel
Boyer, WD2DW said of Tom, “Tommy’s consistent performance as a net
control station, coupled with his remarkable intervention on August 3rd,
underscores his unwavering commitment to public safety and disaster
preparedness. His actions exemplify the essence of community service and
serve as an inspiration to others.”  Tom, KK4NTI’s service is
invaluable to the citizens of South Carolina and brings great honor to
the Amateur Radio Community as a whole. Tom, thank you for your
continued and meritorious public service to the state of South
Carolina.
